CIT499 Project Update
I have made some good progress with my Yahoo Pipes mashup. I recently encorporated a feed from Google Calendar that will update the mashup when a new person is on-call for the week. It will show who is on-call and what days they are on-call during the week.
I also was excited to find a way to integrate an online document applicaiton with my mashup. I started using Google Docs to begin with but I could not get the RSS feed URL to parse within my mashup. I did not like the address for some reason. After spending several hours trying to figure that out I gave up on Google Docs and decided to look into ZoHo Writer instead. The ZoHo Writer did exactly what I wanted it to do. I was able to import documents and publish them. After I pulished them I was able to extract an RSS feed for my published documents. This will track any new documents that are uploaded as well as any changes made to existing uploaded documents. This will be useful for the SQL Server DBA’s at my company because we are always documenting processes and procedures and then using these documents on a daily basis.
I’m really liking the fact that I can use many Web 2.0 services and incorporate them into my project. I have already learned quite a bit and hope to learn much more.
