Mailbucket and my semester project…
I’ve been working some on my semester project for CIT499 today. I was experimenting with using Mailbucket to produce RSS feeds of SQL Server error messages that I receive at work. I then encorporated the RSS feed URL into my Yahoo Pipes mashup. This appears to work pretty well with one exception. I can’t figure out how to get around the Outlook encryption. I have a rule in my Outlook account that forwards our critical SQL Server error messages to my mailbucket.org account. Mailbucket simply allows you to send any mail to your account@mailbucket.org. The feed is an xml RSS feed from mailbucket. I then added the feed to my Yahoo Pipes SQL Server mashup. The emails seem to work ok if I first forward them to my IUPUI gmail account and then forward them from there to mailbucket.org. I’m still going to figure out a way that I can get this to work automatically.
By experimenting with this I’ve learned a lot about RSS feeds and how they can be very beneficial. Especially when working with a Yahoo Pipes mashup.
More to come on this in the future.
